Capabilities
As part of our mission outlined by the Oregon legislature, OTRADI provides technical services to Oregon researchers and biotech companies. These services include screening and optimization of new chemical entities and validation of targets for disease management. OTRADI will cover all vital steps in the therapeutic development timeline: chemical screens, preclinical models, lead optimization, drug toxicology assays, libraries of promising compounds, and medicinal chemistry. OTRADI will also provide high-throughput and high content screening for infectious disease therapeutic development, incorporating compound libraries from commercial sources and the proprietary "Oregon Collection" of new chemical and biological entities.
OTRADI specializes in the following services:
- High-throughput screening (HTS) for drug discovery
OTRADI rapidly identifies biologically active compounds, tests them for novel cellular effects and unique bioactivity, compares their activity with validated drug controls, and prioritizes hits for further characterization and lead optimization. - Assay development to automate and optimize drug discovery
OTRADI scales and validates novel assays for high-throughput screening of anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-malarial, anti-infectious disease, cytotoxicity, cell-based, genomic and proteomic assays, as well as immunoassays, assays to identify important therapeutic enzymatic targets, and novel assays using fluorescence, luminescence and spectrophotometric readouts. - High-content analysis (HCA) for real-time, cellular imaging and compound screening
OTRADI designs and validates image-based cell screening assays to: 1) simultaneously screen for and prioritize hits based on specificity for a cellular target and lack of cytotoxicity, 2) provide imaging and analysis of live and fixed cells, 3) identify cellular targets for drugs, and 4) determine mechanism of action for hit compounds.
