OTRADI’s first fundraising campaign for life and science in Oregon

When the OTRADI Bioscience Incubator (OBI) opened in June 2013 as Oregon’s first and only bioscience-specific business incubator, its 13,000 square feet of rented space was filled to capacity in a matter of weeks. The OBI now serves six startup bioscience companies and has a waiting list of 15 more companies eager to access its labs, collaborative areas and mentoring network. OTRADI’s strategic importance in the future of bioscience developments is clear. The need to keep OTRADI and the OBI growing is real.

Therefore, during 2014 and 2015, OTRADI is, for the first time, seeking voluntary, tax-deductible gifts to help with continuing expansion of its services. The name of the fundraising campaign is MOBI. It stands for “Multiplying Oregon’s Bio Innovations.”

Contributions to MOBI will supplement vital State of Oregon funding for OBI facilities and permanently support further development of the OBI Entrepreneurship and BioMentoring programs.

OTRADI recently received a commitment of $325,000 from Governor Kitzhaber’s Strategic Reserve Fund to build out and equip approximately 3,000 square feet of additional space at the OBI. Businesses, foundations and individuals are being asked for their assistance to help fund the rest of the need.

Reaching MOBI’s $1million goal will permanently and dramatically expand lab and office space as well as the educational, counseling and networking services that support bio-entrepreneurs in Portland, Bend, Corvallis, Eugene and across the State.

OTRADI’s incubation infrastructure and the know-how to support startup companies, combined with gifts and grants from friends in the community, will advance life and science throughout Oregon and beyond. How to help. OTRADI welcomes support in many forms. The time, talent and treasure provided by all who embrace its work are much appreciated. With a focus on financial resources as the priority, the MOBI campaign includes the following donor benefits:

Gifts in excess of $100,000 will be acknowledged by naming a major section of the OBI – or an Entrepreneur-in-Residence position – in permanent recognition of the donor.

All donors of $10,000 or more will be listed in OTRADI’s “Aisle of Appreciation” and named in OTRADI publications as charter contributors.

All donors of at least $1,000 will be honored at exclusive events observing key milestones for OTRADI and the OBI throughout the campaign.

Every donor will be graciously thanked and invited to the OBI for special behind the scenes programs and tours of the OBI conducted exclusively by OTRADI’s Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Fox.
