OTRADI Highlights During the 2007-2009 Biennium
Established a state-of-the-art, high-throughput drug discovery & screening laboratory capable of testing >10,000 chemicals a day for drug-like activity.
Attracted over 70 scientific researchers from Oregon Universities to participate as OTRADI Affiliates.
Assembled the Oregon Collection: a library of novel, locally-sourced chemical compounds contributed by researchers from OSU, U of O, PSU, and OHSU/VA Medical Center.
Successfully completed primary screening of the Oregon Collection of chemicals for anti-malarial, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal drug-like activity.
Identified, from these experiments, 28 chemicals with novel, anti-malarial activity and 29 chemicals with novel, anti-bacterial activity against E. coli and/or Staph. bacteria.
Helped establish new inter-university collaborations between affiliated Oregon researchers, based on OTRADI's experimental results.
Contributed scientific work/data to submitted or pending research grants for Oregon totaling > $6M.
Named as a supporting collaborator/institute on grants submitted by Oregon researchers to federal and private agencies totaling $5.3M.
Initiated service contract negotiations with Oregon-based biotech companies and national biotech/pharma companies.
