Bioscience Growth and the Portland Innovation Quadrant

For years one of the primary limiting factors for local bioscience companies’ growth has been the complete lack of available lab space in the Portland Metro area. Many of you know that we have been diligently working on solving this problem by meeting with local real estate developers and by actively participating on the board of the Portland Innovation Quadrant (Portland IQ). The Portland IQ is a public-private partnership founded by Portland’s leading institutions (OHSU, PSU, PCC, OMSI) and expanded to include private industry, incubators, trade associations and local government (for more info, see

We are thrilled to report that the Portland IQ and the new lab-based, bioscience buildings are featured as the cover story of the Portland Business Journal. View the article here:

If you are a lab-based company with up to 25 employees, and you’d like to learn more about our new lab space available in the Portland IQ, please email to let us know. We are happy to discuss these developments and the great progress being made to develop an innovation quadrant in Portland. Thanks to you all for being part of this vibrant and rapidly growing bioscience community!

OBI’s Executive Director, Jennier Fox, was a panelist at TechfestNW discussing the Portland Innovation Quadrant (Portland IQ). She shared her excitement for the Portland IQ and how it is creating the next step in the pipeline for bioscience startups.

OBI proudly sponsored the following companies at PitchfestNW:

OBI was proud to be part of such a worthy cause by actively participating in this year’s Girls Inc. Power of the Purse Gala. OBI Executive Director, Jennifer Fox, worked hard to secure all of the items the purse came with. The purse and contents were auctioned off and sold for $6,500. Thank you to McConnell’s Boxing Academy, Oregon Wine Board,, Wildfang and Yellow Scope for donating to the cause.
