We are thrilled to welcome Caitlin Vargas to the OBI and OTRADI Board of Directors. Caitlin brings a sharp strategic mind paired with a big heart for community, and she has spent her career opening doors for entrepreneurs who historically haven’t had a seat at the table. As Co-Founder and Vice President of Community Impact and Partnerships at the Collaborative Economic Development Organization, she has built statewide initiatives that help female founders access capital, mentorship, and the networks needed to grow. Her leadership at Onward Eugene and the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce set a new bar for innovation, including launching Oregon’s first accelerator to provide free childcare for women entrepreneurs.
Caitlin’s background spans economic development, nonprofit leadership, communications, fundraising, and regional policy. She has served on numerous boards across transportation, housing, leadership development, and bioscience. She also somehow manages life as a proud mother of four competitive soccer players, channeling the same energy and teamwork that define her professional approach. We are excited for the vision and momentum she will bring to our board and to the bioscience community we serve.

If securing non-dilutive funding is on your radar for 2026, this is the workshop you do not want to miss. Our SBIR and STTR Grant Preparation Workshop in February will break down the art, science, and strategy behind winning proposals, giving you practical tools you can put to work the same day. You will learn exactly what agencies look for, how to position your innovation, and how to avoid the pitfalls that sink otherwise strong applications. Whether you are gearing up for your first submission or aiming to boost your competitiveness, this workshop will help you walk in confident and walk out ready.
