SUMMARY:Creating an Effective Biotech Pitch Deck
DESCRIPTION:A pitch deck to investors is a “make it” or “break it” event for entrepreneurs and likely your only chance to convince investors of your technology’s value. Presenting your idea to biotechnology investors differs from other industries due to longer development timelines\, development costs\, navigating the FDA\, and years before turning a profit. Join us for our next ScienceDocs webinar\, as Dr. Schwartz discusses some of the most important “do’s” and “don’ts” of how to pitch your idea to investors. \nDr. Schwartz \nDr. Schwartz is a serial entrepreneur specializing in the launch of new companies from technologies originating from academic and government organizations.  He has been the co-founder and/or CEO of approximately ten companies\, mainly focused on the HealthIT/Biotechnology sectors. His efforts have raised millions in VC and grant funding. As a result\, these efforts led to FDA approval of a medical device and the progression of multiple oncology drug programs through IND to the clinic. At ScienceDocs\, he helps entrepreneurs and startup companies with developing business plans\, licensing\, funding raising\, and pre-clinical/clinical development pathways in the pharmaceutical and medical device space.

The spirit of the entrepreneurs in this community is truly limitless and we look\nforward to hearing from a few founders on what this crisis has meant for their startups — good\, bad and everything in between. \nMarquita Jaramillo of PIE will tell us more about the company as well as update us on what this pandemic has meant for the incubator. Two current PIE founders will tell us what they’ve been doing to keep their momentum up in a world on pause. \nWe will also have a Virtual Job Seekers Lounge\, where attendees looking for career opportunities can connect in real-time with recruiters who are\nhiring! Note that if you want to participate in this feature\, we recommend joining PDXWIT slack. We will also have face to face networking at the end\nof the event for anyone who is interested in participating! \nAgenda:\n5:00 p.m. – Zoom Webinar Open/Virtual Networking\n5:15 p.m. – Introductions\, Announcements + Lightning Speakers\n5:30 p.m. – Recruiter Roll Call\n5:45 p.m. – Virtual Job Seekers Section via Slack/Face-to-Face Networking in Breakout Rooms\n6:30 p.m. – Event ends \nPurpose:\nPDXWIT encourages women\, non-binary and underrepresented people to join and stay in tech through mentorship\, educational community events and support services for job seekers. \nOur events are inclusive.
