Most important of all is\, don’t run out of money! Our speakers will offer guidance on how to think through your financial budget and forecasting costs as you expand and grow\, as well as best practices for grant accounting\, audit and tax requirements and financial reporting as you prepare for venture funding or IPO. \n  \nMissed it? Watch the recording of this program on our YouTube Channel. \n\n\nAbout the speakers: \nPeter Buss \nPeter focuses on serving public companies\, venture backed\, and pre-public companies. Peter has built a niche in providing ASC 740 and other tax consulting services to over 20 public companies up and down the West Coast. Additionally\, Peter oversees the corporate tax compliance team\, handling income tax preparation for both public and private companies. \nPeter serves as the outsourced tax department for both public and large private companies in Portland\, handling all tax related matters for these companies. With the heightened independence requirements required by the SEC and PCAOB\, Peter has filled a necessary void for many public companies. \nPeter assists numerous companies on a routine basis with their tax purchase accounting issues and has developed a strong focus in this area. Additional technical tax accounting topics Peter regularly consults on include FAS 123R\, FIN 18\, and FIN 48 adoption and maintenance. \nPeter was with Ernst & Young in San Francisco prior to joining the KBF team as a partner in 2004. When Peter is not at work\, he enjoys spending time with his wife\, Loridel\, and daughter\, Isabella. \n\n\nJennifer Kyle \nJennifer Kyle is the Founder and CEO of Condor Software. Prior to founding Condor\, Jennifer held management roles as Senior Director of Finance and Corporate Controller\, serving as the finance partner with operations and IT. Before that\, Jennifer was an Auditor for Ernst & Young\, where she gained valuable financial audit and SEC accounting experience on high-profile and complex engagements\, including large public companies and IPOs. Jennifer received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Economics from the University of South Florida\, and holds a CPA license in the state of California. \n\n\nJohn Baglien \nJohn is a Senior Manager in KBF’s Audit and Advisory practice. John has a background in both public accounting and industry. He started his career at KPMG in Portland\, where he served publicly traded technology and manufacturing companies for six years\, as well as non-public companies primarily in the healthcare space. Three Runners-up will also be selected for an accelerator workshop. \nOur Committee will review the applications and select six finalists (and two back-ups) to present on stage. We pair each of the finalists with a team of TiE Charter Members for coaching and mentoring in the run-up to the Pitch Competition. While using this resource isn’t mandatory\, we have found that the most successful companies engage with and use the feedback from their “champions.”\n \n \nTIMELINE –\nJune 10\, 2021 – Applications Open \nAugust 20\, 2021 – Application Deadline \nAugust 26\, 2021 – Finalist Announcement \nSeptember 1\, 2021 – Pitch Competition\n \n \nLOGISTICS – \nWhen:  Wednesday\, September 1\, 2021\nCost: $5 Members / $15 Nonmembers\nVirtual:  Zoom Webinar details will be available upon registration \nTime:  5:30 PM – 8:00 PM\n5:30 PM – Welcome\n5:50 PM – Pitch 1\n6:10 PM – Pitch 2\n6:30 PM – Pitch 3\n6:50 PM – Pitch 4\n7:10 PM – Deliberation\n7:40 PM – Winner Announcement\n \n \nFINALISTS – \nBelonging\nFoxface Systems\nHemex Health\nLazarus 3D\n \n \nJUDGES – \nAllison Hartsoe\nCEO | Ambition Data LLC \nAnna Hope Kabongo MBA\nAngel Program Associate\nTiE Oregon Angels \nHeather Samarin\nFounder | Product Rebels\nAngel Investor \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:TAO Power Pairing: Women Leading in Tech
DESCRIPTION:WHAT TO EXPECT\nThe 2021 Power Pairing series features quarterly “fireside chat-style” interviews with women leaders from the Oregon and SW Washington tech community. Featured guests share their life stories and career journeys\, including strategies that have helped them thrive and lessons they’ve learned along the way.  \nWhile we originally planned for an in-person event\, we have decided to keep this event virtual due to the increase of COVID cases in Oregon. We’ll start the event with a round of networking where participants will have a chance to connect with other women in tech and explore themes of leadership.  \nEach event attendee will receive $15 credit to have a breakfast of their choice delivered to their residence. Grab your coffee and join us for a fun\, empowering event! \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND\nC-Suite\, VP\, and Director-level women (and their mentee/emerging leader) from technology companies\, start-ups\, and tech-enabled organizations across Oregon and SW Washington. \nWHAT YOU WILL LEARN\nThroughout the 2021 Power Pairing series\, participants will have the opportunity to consider the changing roles of women in the workplace\, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing women in leadership roles – both formal and informal. Participants will learn more about the impact that women leaders can have on their organizations—and the impact that leadership roles can have on the women who hold them. \n Featured guests will share their perspectives on these issues: \nHow do you define leadership? How does your definition manifest in your leadership style?\nHow has your leadership style adapted and evolved over your career?\nHave you benefited from a mentor or coach? Have you taken on this role for more junior women in your workplace?\nHow do you manage work/life balance?\nWhat advice would you offer to other women who are looking to lead in their workplaces or start a company?\n  \nPower Pairing\nAn intimate\, online workshop curated for C-Suite\, VP and Director-level executive women from tech companies\, and those who aspire to senior leadership. We also welcome and encourage executive-level leaders to register women they have mentored or identified as emerging leaders looking to take that next step in their careers.\n \nPanel Discussion\nCheck out our moderator & panelists for this event\nPanelist(s) \nSarah Boen\nDirector of Technology Strategy\nTektronix \nKristi Flores\nVP/CMO of Global Marketing\nTektronix \nNadine May\nCustomer Applications Manager\nPortland General Electric \nModerator \nCandace Beeke\nPublisher & President\nThe Portland Business Journal \nRegister here.
