SUMMARY:Experienced Women in Tech Virtual Event
DESCRIPTION:We tell stories all the time: to persuade someone to support our idea\, to explain to an employee how they might improve\, or to inspire a team that is facing challenges. SUMMARY:Creating an Effective Biotech Pitch Deck
DESCRIPTION:A pitch deck to investors is a “make it” or “break it” event for entrepreneurs and likely your only chance to convince investors of your technology’s value. Presenting your idea to biotechnology investors differs from other industries due to longer development timelines\, development costs\, navigating the FDA\, and years before turning a profit. Join us for our next ScienceDocs webinar\, as Dr. Schwartz discusses some of the most important “do’s” and “don’ts” of how to pitch your idea to investors. \nDr. Schwartz \nDr. Schwartz is a serial entrepreneur specializing in the launch of new companies from technologies originating from academic and government organizations.  He has been the co-founder and/or CEO of approximately ten companies\, mainly focused on the HealthIT/Biotechnology sectors. His efforts have raised millions in VC and grant funding. As a result\, these efforts led to FDA approval of a medical device and the progression of multiple oncology drug programs through IND to the clinic. At ScienceDocs\, he helps entrepreneurs and startup companies with developing business plans\, licensing\, funding raising\, and pre-clinical/clinical development pathways in the pharmaceutical and medical device space.

SUMMARY:Virtual Lunch & Learn: Negotiate Like a Boss by Being Yourself
DESCRIPTION:Martin Medeiros will introduce you to a research-based approach that teaches you how to effectively negotiate just by being yourself. \nNote: This Lunch & Learn is a virtual event\, using Zoom Meeting. After registration\, you will receive a link to join the meeting. Grab your lunch in the comfort of your home or office\, and join us! \nRegister here! \nNot knowing what to do\, anxiety and even fear may confront us when we must negotiate. Often\, the negotiator “type” is viewed as a haggler\, a deceiver\, even a manipulator. Decades of research show that effective negotiators do not exhibit these traits. What if there was a research-based process that lets you negotiate just by being yourself? And what if this approach is proven to get your needs met more often than not? Introduce yourself to the systems approach to negotiation from Martin Medeiros\, who adopted this approach over 25 years of law practice. \nMartin is a keynote speaker on negotiation\, acts as a judge in the ABA Negotiation Competition\, delivers the weekly “Persuasion Lab” podcast and authored 5 books on negotiation\, persuasion\, and influence. This interactive session delivers immediately actionable steps you can take. \nAbout the speaker: \nMartin Medeiros started his research in 1999 to remove frustration and stress experienced with deals and disputes. He mastered methods for determining objective probabilities with the best strategies in transactions and disputes needed in the information economy. But this was not enough. His research then turned on tempering this objective focus on human behavior\, which can be subjective and irrational. Now the model is complete. \nSpeaking at start-ups\, Fortune 500 companies\, Am Law 100 firms\, trade association meetings\, strategic investment associations\, universities\, non-profits\, and healthcare providers\, Martin also presented to hundreds of attorneys as a Board Member of the Oregon Law Institute at Lewis and Clark College of Law from 2003-2015 and as Chair of the Technology Law Section of the Oregon State Bar. Martin’s skill as a keynote speaker and teacher were forged on the anvil of this unique experience. \nMartin Medeiros takes the stage with stories and humor. Anyone can lose bad negotiation habits\, avoid losses and build value – if you know how. Martin has closed thousands of deals and disputes using a systematic approach. While we do have proprietary tools\, we also publish our data and teach what we do to increase positive negotiation outcomes.
