SUMMARY:Vertue Lab & Women in Science PDX: Badass Women Entrepreneurs
DESCRIPTION:Badass women who have turned their science into successful business ventures and the funding resources that have supported them and others. \nVertueLab and Women in Science PDX are celebrating the fifth year of Badass Women Entrepreneurs! \nThis annual event spotlights badass women with badass science startups. The event convenes movers and shakers with different types of businesses\, different science backgrounds from low to high tech\, and non-traditional funding and support expertise. \nWe’ll dive into their journeys\, learn about their career path\, challenges\, triumphs\, and the resources they couldn’t do without. We want to inspire and empower you to innovate\, to brave the entrepreneur journey\, and connect you with other women science-badasses\, allies and local companies\, partners\, and mentors who can help launch an idea into the market. \nMore about the event …\nIn the first part of this event\, our moderator\, Kim Zou of ClimateTech VC\, will lead us through the exploration of how these badass women have taken their innovative ideas\, rooted in science and tech\, from just an idea to a fully implemented business. \nThese badass women entrepreneurs will share: \nTheir journey and insights\, including when their business or tech idea originated\nTheir first steps to the formation of their company\nEarly funding pathways including private investment and federal grants\nNavigating partnership legalities\nValuable resources\nReflections on challenges they have overcome\nDuring part two of this event\, we will be joined by another panel of professionals who will elaborate on the startup funding pathways and resources mentioned by our badass women entrepreneurs\, along with information very specific to their funding resources. \nThen stick around for SPEED NETWORKING. This will be several 3-minute breakouts where you’ll get the chance to connect with panelists and attendees. This session is introvert-friendly ~ short and sweet. Long enough to make a connection\, but often not long enough to get into too much depth. But that’s where you can follow up for a virtual coffee or whatnot. Be sure to exchange LinkedIn profile info! \nYou should come to the event if…\nYou’re an aspiring/current entrepreneur looking for inspiration\, knowledge\, and connections\nYou’re an investor interested in learning about innovative companies led by badass founders\nYou’re a professional or student looking to connect with entrepreneurs and build community\nYou’re a technologist/innovators interested in learning more about the funding resources available to grow your technology/business\nYou’re a service provider or are involved in support programs for startups/early innovators and want to connect with the guests and panelists\n  \nA note on inclusivity:\nWe use the words ‘women/woman’ in an expansive and inclusive way to include any persons that identify with the word. \nWe recognize that patriarchal systems of oppression have perpetrated disproportionate inequities on anyone who is not societally perceived as a cis-man. \nIn the entrepreneur\, tech\, and investment sectors it is our goal to create a safe and inclusive event and community where folks facing this systemic oppression can gain connections\, share resources\, and build relationships with others in this space. \nWe recognize that gender is a broad and beautiful spectrum and we aim to celebrate everyone on this spectrum. We invite allies and accomplices to join us. \nAccessibility:\nThis event will be held on a Zoom meeting\, with closed captions available. If you need additional assistance or specific accommodations\, we are happy to provide these. SUMMARY:OregonBio - Need to Speed: Manufacturing ATMP Products
DESCRIPTION:Need to Speed is the name of the game when building a facility to manufacture ATMP products. With a heavy focus on an accelerated schedule and getting your product faster to market this brings unique risks. Converting some project risk factors into success factors could change your whole dynamic and lead to a effective facility start-up. First\, there does not need to be a trade-off between cost\, schedule\, and quality\, if your team understands how to deliver quality right first. There are five (5) risks to a facility start up project. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Loopr AI: Break the Bias in Startups
DESCRIPTION:As part of International Women’s Day\, Loopr AI\, is organizing a webinar titled “Break the Bias in Startups” \nStartups are responsible for the biggest wealth re-distribution in the last 100 years. Yet\, women are largely locked out of the biggest startup success stories. 7 of the wealthiest 10 people in the world are startup founders but no woman features on the list. In 2021\, only 2.3% of entrepreneurs globally who raised VC funding were women. More closely\, none of the Greater Seattle Unicorns is women-led. \nJoin us on 22nd March 2022 to explore the reasons behind the disparity and find ways to collectively help bridge the gap and bring women entrepreneurs to an equal footing. \nThe Guest Speakers of this event are: \nSharan Hildebrand – Vice President Strategic Alliances North America\, Hitachi Solutions\nSurabhi Rathore – CEO & Co-founder\, Symbl.ai\nLilia Shirman – CEO\, The Shirman Group\nAravinda Gollapudi – Technology & Strategic Operations Executive\, Sage \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:TAO Leadership Exchange: A Conversation with Women Leaders in Tech
DESCRIPTION:Women have always played an important role in the technology industry\, unearthing new discoveries and developing unique approaches to solving the world’s challenges through innovation. However\, there is still a long way to go before the playing field is truly level\, and women are hired and promoted based on their skills and the exceptional contributions they make to the industry. \nVital to technological advancement\, women bring unique perspectives\, backgrounds\, and knowledge to the table. However\, women are currently outnumbered by men 3:1 in the tech industry and 5:1 in engineering. \nTechnology Association of Oregon (TAO) and partner UK Trade and Investment invite you to a conversation with regional female leaders hosted by Tammy Sandhu\, British Deputy Consul General\, about what is needed to support female\, non-binary and other historically excluded individuals in technology roles (particularly in leadership). \nThis all-female panel brings their passion for lifting up women to more senior roles\, workplace equality for intersectional diversity (including sexuality and race in addition to gender)\, and supportive workplace culture. They will discuss how to have the confidence to confront inequality in pay\, and how to be an advocate for building a diverse and inclusive workforce in the tech sector. \nRegister here.

SUMMARY:TAO 2022 Small Business Cybersecurity Series: Preparing for a Cyber Incident
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Small Business Development Center\, Mount Hood Community College\, and  the Technology Association of Oregon (TAO)  for our 2022 Cyber Series on the 4th Tuesday of the month from February through September to learn the fundamentals of cybercrime and cybersecurity to better protect your business. \nGet those calendars out and browse the lineup of the remaining session dates in this series below! As we near specific event dates\, topics and featured guests will be confirmed and communicated.  \nThe National Institute of Standards and Technology defines a cyber incident as “actions taken through the use of an information system or network that result in an actual or potentially adverse effect on an information system\, network\, and/or the information residing therein” which is a much more thorough definition than saying\, “you’ve been hacked.” Regardless of the terminology\, being prepared for when an incident does occur takes time and forethought. In an era where cyber incidents are on the rise\, ensuring you have a cyber incident response plan means you know how to respond to a serious security incident\, such as a data breach\, data leak\, ransomware attack\, or loss of sensitive information. \nRegister here.
