SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn: Financial Forecasting & Accounting for Early Stage Development Companies
DESCRIPTION:About this virtual event: \nWhen starting a company\, there is a lot to think through\, including how to raise capital\, how to build your team\, and stand-up operations. Most important of all is\, don’t run out of money! Our speakers will offer guidance on how to think through your financial budget and forecasting costs as you expand and grow\, as well as best practices for grant accounting\, audit and tax requirements and financial reporting as you prepare for venture funding or IPO. \n  \nMissed it? Watch the recording of this program on our YouTube Channel. \n\n\nAbout the speakers: \nPeter Buss \nPeter focuses on serving public companies\, venture backed\, and pre-public companies. Peter has built a niche in providing ASC 740 and other tax consulting services to over 20 public companies up and down the West Coast. Additionally\, Peter oversees the corporate tax compliance team\, handling income tax preparation for both public and private companies. \nPeter serves as the outsourced tax department for both public and large private companies in Portland\, handling all tax related matters for these companies. In many instances\, Peter works as a liaison between the client and the Big 4 audit firm on tax accounting matters. Working directly with the Big 4 has allowed Peter to maintain and strengthen his technical proficiency in the area of ASC 740. With the heightened independence requirements required by the SEC and PCAOB\, Peter has filled a necessary void for many public companies. \nPeter assists numerous companies on a routine basis with their tax purchase accounting issues and has developed a strong focus in this area. Additional technical tax accounting topics Peter regularly consults on include FAS 123R\, FIN 18\, and FIN 48 adoption and maintenance. \nPeter was with Ernst & Young in San Francisco prior to joining the KBF team as a partner in 2004. When Peter is not at work\, he enjoys spending time with his wife\, Loridel\, and daughter\, Isabella. \n\n\nJennifer Kyle \nJennifer Kyle is the Founder and CEO of Condor Software. Condor is the byproduct of consulting for life science companies where she helped organizations standup and scale financial operations related to R&D. Prior to founding Condor\, Jennifer held management roles as Senior Director of Finance and Corporate Controller\, serving as the finance partner with operations and IT. Before that\, Jennifer was an Auditor for Ernst & Young\, where she gained valuable financial audit and SEC accounting experience on high-profile and complex engagements\, including large public companies and IPOs. Jennifer received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Economics from the University of South Florida\, and holds a CPA license in the state of California. \n\n\nJohn Baglien \nJohn is a Senior Manager in KBF’s Audit and Advisory practice. John has a background in both public accounting and industry. He started his career at KPMG in Portland\, where he served publicly traded technology and manufacturing companies for six years\, as well as non-public companies primarily in the healthcare space. In industry\, his assistant controller and controller responsibilities included leading his teams in the recording and reporting of financial results as well as coordinating the external financial statement audits. In these roles\, John completed the implementations of ASC 606 and 842 among other technical accounting projects. He has extensive experience in SOX compliance and technical areas including accounting for income taxes\, information technology\, share-based payments\, and revenue. \n\n\nThank you to our sponsor\, KBF Certified Public Accountants. \nTrusted Partner \nUnmatched Service \nCombining industry-leading expertise with customized service\, KBF acts as your trusted partner for Tax\, Assurance\, and Advisory Services. \n\n\n \n\n \nMissed it? The technology should enable an embodiment in which sample preparation is automated and incorporated into the test device. A phenotypic AST is preferred. Genotypic entries will be allowed\, but consideration should be made to identify as high a percentage of resistant bacteria or fungi as possible while optimizing specificity. \nThis is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for relevant companies / academic developers.
