SUMMARY:OEN's August Entrepreneur Mixer: Brainstorming
DESCRIPTION:August Entrepreneur Mixer: BRAINSTORMING \nRegister here \n5MLK is opening their doors for the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network (OEN) August Entrepreneur Mixer from 5:00 – 6:30 pm on Thursday\, August 3rd. \nDuring this event\, you’ll have the opportunity to meet ambitious founders and entrepreneurs with a broad range of expertise and skills that are open to building new relationships and strengthening the regional innovation ecosystem. All while enjoying the amazing views from the 6th floor deck of SE Portland’s newest mixed use building. \nBased on suggestions from the last mixer we’ve chosen the topic of Brainstorming as the guiding conversation of the evening. \nBrainstorming is used for spurring creativity when you’re looking for a solution to an entrenched problem in your startup — or starting a new business altogether. Some dream of hitting upon a flash of genius in the middle of the night\, but most seasoned start up founders know there is no time to be wasted waiting for inspiration to strike. \nVeronica Yanhs of Business Laid Bare will be on hand to guide the group through a fun and interactive brainstorming session and provide suggestions for how you can strengthen your individual and collaborative brainstorms. \nPricing \nOEN Member: Free\nNon-Member: $10\nLight snacks and beverages will be provided for attendees. \nThe goal of OEN Entrepreneur Mixers are to prioritize founders and give them a space to have open conversations with peers. Please only register for this event if you are an Oregon or SW Washington founder or entrepreneur at an early\, development or growth stage startup.

SUMMARY:Oregon Bio Association: OBW CONNECT 2023
DESCRIPTION:Oregon Bio Women CONNECT 2023 is happening Thursday\, August 17 in the Lloyd District of Portland (at Genentech). It will be a time to network/share/grow! \nWomen across industries and skill levels agree negotiation and conflict resolution abilities are not innate nor are they a gift. They are a learned skill. Whether you’re enacting complex contracts\, working to improve your supply chain\, leading a diverse group\, vying for financing or working capital\, developing regulatory/compliance strategies\, seeking a raise or a better job\, managing the carpool for preschool\, assigning home chores\, or buying/selling a residence\, these important opportunities to lean in abound and most always require negotiation. \nNegotiation and conflict management skills require data capture and comprehension\, assertiveness\, confidence\, and emotional intelligence. In this time together\, we’ll: \n•   Learn concepts of strategic negotiation and the importance of information in negotiations \n•   Explore the role and use of objective criteria in negotiations \n•   Strategize and overcome challenges \n•   Chart a course for professional development using a mentoring model\, navigate the obstacles and get empowered to achieve personal and professional growth. \nJoin two powerhouse pros in this field – Alison D. Roth\, J.D.\, Associate at Miller Nash LLP Attorneys at Law and Sara Wisser\, M.S.\, Senior Business Development Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific. Ali and Sara will lead us in an interactive and responsive discussion and tailored small-group learning that will inform and improve our own interpersonal and professional negotiation and resolutions approach. \nAlison D. Roth\, J.D.: Ali assists businesses with drafting and negotiating a variety of complex commercial transactions\, including mergers and acquisitions\, capital financings\, intellectual property licenses\, and commercial agreements. She especially enjoys advising companies in emerging industries throughout their life cycle. Prior to earning her Juris Doctor at Lewis & Clark Law School\, she received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Geosciences from Boston College. Her scientific background enables her to provide perspective and insights into the legal challenges arising in the ever-changing landscape of technology and bioscience transactions. \nSara Wisser\, M.S.: Sara Wisser is a scientist by education and a dedicated business partner by profession. She completed her B.S and M.S. at Texas State University with a focus on Biochemistry and completed her graduate studies and M.S at University of Oregon with a focus on Bio-Organic Chemistry.
