DESCRIPTION:Portland Chapter of the Society of Physician Entrepreneurs (SoPE) \nSpeaker: Sadik Esener\, PhD\, Director of OHSU Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research (CEDAR)\, Knight Cancer Institute. His recent work has focused on the synthesis and application of nanoparticle delivery of biologics for cancer therapies\, brain mapping and in vivo imaging\, and Dr. Esener has translated his research into several companies. \nBiotech Startup Pitch: Antra Boyd\, RN\, MSN and Ciera Dube\, RN\, BSN\, Founders\, Connected Care Patient Advocates. Antra and Ciera are registered nurses and observed that patients did not have an optimized comprehension of their disease or options. Connected Care is working to assist patients in navigating the healthcare system and decrease the approximately 12 million medical errors every year. \nHeavy appetizers\, open bar will be available. All in the biotech startup ecosystem are invited. \n

We will have an expert speaker\, a 5-minute pitch\, and networking. \nTom Beer\, MD\, Deputy Director\, Knight Cancer Research Institute; Chief Medical Officer\, Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research (CEDAR) Center\, Dr. Beer leads the Prostate Cancer Research Program at OHSU\, has extensive experience in translational research\, and led the global clinical trial for enzalutamide for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer. Dr. Beer is an inventor and business owner. \nElliott Parker\, CEO\, Additive Care\, a medical 3D printing company for patient specific preoperative replicas for hospitals and surgeons that translates MRI and CT data into manufactured products for simulations in high risk surgeries.
