The team at Caregiven invites you to an interactive introduction to their newly released app.
In this virtual hour-long focus group called an “App Jam,” participants will have the opportunity to download and begin using the app, while sharing observations about the product and their personal experience caring for a loved one – and for Portland area participants, enjoying some locally made provisions from Three Little Figs and The Cracker King.
If you are or have been a caregiver or are concerned about giving care to a loved one in the future, we hope you will join us. While this topic is often heavy on our hearts, planning and openly talking about plans are the best way to ensure that everyone is able to give and receive the care of their choosing.
About the Founder:
Candice Smith
Shortly after her father was diagnosed with terminal cancer, Candice Smith decided to read his favorite book, How Green Was My Valley. The impact of Richard Llewellyn’s words when he wrote: “Men like my father cannot die. They are with me still, real in memory as they were in flesh, loving and beloved forever” changed how Candice viewed her father’s end-of-life journey and how she celebrates his memory.
Inspired to change the experiences for all family caregivers, in 2017 Candice founded Caregiven, a mobile app and platform that guides users to the support and services they need by spending less time overwhelmed with administrative tasks and having more meaningful time with their loved one. When she’s not advocating for how individuals, societies and cultures think and approach informal caregiving, she’s celebrating living in the Pacific NW with her husband, two children, family and friends.
