ince 2007 The Oregon Translational Research and Development Institute (OTRADI) has operated the state’s only non-profit, proof-of-concept bioscience laboratories, with unique robotic equipment and scientific expertise found nowhere else in Oregon. OTRADI has used its expertise and equipment to generate more than $1 million of revenue to support its scientific expansion and outreach.
In 2013, OTRADI added incubation to its offerings, providing lab and office space, in addition to expertise to bioscience startup companies in Oregon. The original incubator on Portland’s South Waterfront, OTRADI Bioscience Incubator (OBI), was completely full within several weeks of opening its 13,000 square foot facility. In 2015 the OBI expanded by 3,800 square feet, adding 15 new companies to the facility that also is now 100 percent full.
In 2016 OBI will expand east to Bend, thanks for a collaboration with Oregon State University/Cascades.
OTRADI also has expanded its research and laboratory offerings throughout the state in recent years—opening OTRADI South lab facilities within the School of Pharmacy building at Oregon State University/Corvallis.
