Every industry has jargon and acronyms that can be confusing and overwhelming. The abbreviations and acronyms are so prolific in information security that a 2007 book by Alan Calder and Steve J. Watkins contained 104 pages of them. In the intervening 15 years, the number of acronyms has become downright dizzying.

Are you worried about a BEC threat? Is your IPS working? Should you consider a DLP solution? Or are you just shaking your head? If you can only answer the last question, the first session of the 2022 Cyber Series is for you.

F.B.I. Special Agent Phil R. Slinkard will spend an hour and a half kicking off the year by explaining the basics, like how to avoid a business email compromise (BEC) threat, is your intrusion prevention system (IPS) working, and do you need a data loss prevention (DLP) solution? Special Agent Slinkard will also cover the most pressing cyber threats of 2022 while providing tips on how to keep your customers, employees and businesses safe.

Please join the Small Business Development Center , Mount Hood Community College, and the Technology Association of Oregon (TAO)  as we kick off the 2022 Cyber Series with an extended 1.5 hour session. Then join us on the 4th Tuesday of the month from February through September to learn the fundamentals of cybercrime and cybersecurity to better protect your business.
